RSPS Toplists: How to Find the Best RuneScape Private Servers
By RuneRank · Published 16 Sept 2026 · Updated 9 Oct 2026

What Is an RSPS Toplist?
An RSPS toplist is a ranked directory of RuneScape private servers.
Instead of searching through hundreds of Discord servers and advertisements, players can compare private servers in one place.
A good toplist helps you compare things such as:
- Monthly votes
- Server type
- Game revision
- PvM and PvP content
- Economy style
- Online status
- Player counts
- Community activity
How Are RSPS Servers Ranked?
Most RSPS toplists use community voting.
Players vote for the server they support and those votes contribute toward its ranking.
RuneRank uses monthly rankings, meaning old votes do not permanently keep a server at the top.
This gives growing and newly launched servers another opportunity to compete every month.
Votes Aren't Everything
The server with the most votes is not automatically the right server for every player.
Before joining, also look at:
- Server uptime
- Recent updates
- Discord activity
- Server features
- Economy design
- Staff activity
- Game mode
- Player population
RuneRank also provides server progression and reputation information to give players more context than a vote total alone.
Choose the Right Type of RSPS
Different players want completely different experiences.
Some common categories include:
- OSRS
- PvM
- PvP
- Economy
- Ironman
- Custom
- Pre-EOC
- Mobile
If you primarily want raids and bossing, start with PvM servers.
If you want immediate fights, browse PvP servers.
If you want long-term trading and progression, an economy server may be a better fit.
Look for Active Servers
A server listing can look impressive even when the actual community has disappeared.
Look for signs of current activity:
- Recent votes
- Verified online status
- Recent server updates
- Active Discord conversations
- Consistent uptime
RuneRank's rankings reset monthly so the vote totals represent current competition instead of years of accumulated votes.
New Servers Can Be Worth Trying
Established servers offer stability, but new servers offer fresh economies and open highscores.

RSPS toplist vs RSPS list: what's the difference?
People use the two terms interchangeably, but on RuneRank they do slightly different jobs:
- The [RSPS toplist](/) is the live vote race. It answers "which RuneScape private servers are players backing this month?"
- The [RSPS list](/servers) is the full directory. It answers "what servers exist, and which ones match how I like to play?" — sorted into categories like OSRS, PvP, PvM and economy.
Start with the toplist when you want a popular, active community. Start with the list when you already know the style you want.
How to read a toplist without being misled
A rank number on its own says less than it looks. A few habits make any RSPS toplist more useful:
- Check when votes reset. A list that never resets rewards whoever has been around longest. Monthly resets, like RuneRank's, show current momentum.
- Separate ads from rankings. Banner and featured spots are paid. On RuneRank they are labelled and never move a server's ranked position.
- Look past the top three. Positions 10–30 are often where stable, mid-sized communities sit — busy enough to have an economy, small enough that staff still answer questions.
- Confirm the server is actually online. Prefer listings showing verified status over ones that only display a self-reported number.
- Vote only for servers you play. Voting rewards are fine; vote buying and bot traffic are why RuneRank limits votes to one per server every 12 hours and screens them before they count.
Questions players ask about RSPS toplists
Do RSPS toplists pay for rankings? Reputable ones do not sell ranked positions. Advertising exists, but it should be clearly marked.
Why does a server jump up the list at the start of the month? Because every server begins the month on zero. Communities that vote consistently climb early.
Is a higher-ranked RSPS always better? No. It means more players voted for it. Use the rank to build a shortlist, then use our checklist for picking the best RSPS to decide.
