How to Find a Good RSPS in 2027

Written in October 2026 for players looking ahead to 2027. There are hundreds of RuneScape private servers and most of them advertise the same things. This checklist focuses on signals you can actually verify.

Step 1: Decide what you want

Before comparing servers, pick a style:

• OSRS, Pre-EoC or EoC combat
• PvP, PvM or economy focus
• Custom content or close-to-original gameplay
• A fresh launch or an established community

Step 2: Shortlist from real votes

Start with the RSPS toplist, where every vote is limited to once per 12 hours per server and suspicious votes are filtered. Steady votes across several months are a better sign than a single spike. The full RSPS list lets you browse beyond the top.

Step 3: Check the listing details

On each RuneRank listing look at:

• Online status and uptime — checked automatically by RuneRank.
• Revision or game version — tells you what content to expect.
• Description and screenshots — are they specific, or generic hype?
• Website and Discord links — both should exist and match.

Step 4: Visit the Discord

• Are staff answering questions?
• Is there a public changelog?
• Are rules posted clearly?
• How are reports and bans handled?

Step 5: Look at the store

Donations keep servers running, but a store selling the best gear in the game usually means a short life. Cosmetics, convenience and modest boosts are healthier.

Step 6: Download safely

• Only download from the official site or Discord.
• Never reuse your real RuneScape password.
• Be wary of clients that ask for unusual permissions.

Our RSPS safety checklist covers this in more detail, and we have guides for Mac and mobile players.

Step 7: Try it for a week

Give a server a week before you invest heavily. Watch how often it updates, whether the population holds, and how staff treat players.
