RuneRank Development Update – Security, Voting & Quality of Life Improvements

We've been working on RuneRank's voting safeguards and the everyday tools players and owners use. Here's what's changed, and what it means for the community.

You can still browse the server directory, read listings and discover communities without an account. Voting also remains available without logging in, with verification and the existing cooldown.

Stronger protection, without extra browsing barriers

We've tightened access to private information and strengthened checks around account and staff actions. Public server details remain available for browsing, while private information stays separate.

Listing-submission checks have also improved, helping enforce publication rules and send questionable submissions to staff review.

For normal website votes, successful verification is required before acceptance. Added safeguards help prevent the same voting attempt from being reused or submitted more than once.

We've tested failed verification, expired voting attempts and simultaneous requests. These checks help us catch problems, but they don't make abuse impossible. Security remains ongoing work.

Fairer RSPS voting and rankings

The 12-hour voting cooldown is unchanged. Verification and cooldown checks happen when RuneRank processes your vote, not just through the button in your browser.

The updates also help limit bursts of requests while allowing for normal mobile connection changes. The aim is to reduce manipulation without getting in the way of genuine players.

Premium does not buy votes. Rankings are based on community votes, not purchased bonuses. Featured exposure and listing customization are separate from a server's ranked position.

Votes are one part of choosing a community. Compare descriptions and categories too, so you can find a server that suits how you like to play.

Voting rewards and integration support

We've reviewed reward callbacks—the messages RuneRank sends to a server's reward service after a vote—as well as vote acceptance.

Native callbacks retain delivery tracking and retries, with safer checks on where those messages are sent. Improved error reports help staff investigate rejected deliveries without exposing private player information.

RuneRank continues to support native callbacks and its TeamGames/EverythingRS integration where applicable. Reward delivery still depends on the receiving service and the owner's setup; external errors may need investigation with the provider.

A successful test does not prove that every live reward reached a player. If yours is missing, contact RuneRank and the hosting server so the delivery can be reviewed. Our FAQ covers common voting and listing questions.

More useful tools for owners and players

Advertising cancellation is clearer: cancelling a monthly subscription stops renewal, while the ad stays active through its paid billing period. Advertisers can review their options on the advertising page.

We've also tested safeguards that help prevent repeated payment notices from granting the same benefit twice. As with reward delivery, those tests don't guarantee that outside services can never fail.

For owners, Premium offers custom accent colors, description images and scheduled featured exposure without changing vote totals. Featured listings rotate when more eligible servers are available than there are spaces.

The Community Events Calendar brings server events, upcoming launches and giveaway deadlines together. Players can filter the schedule and explore hosting listings; owners can show what their community is doing.

We've also improved calendar presentation on smaller screens and made listings easier to read.

Our public statistics page lets you explore aggregate activity across different periods without sharing individual visitor information.
