RSPS Server of the Month

Each UTC calendar month, RuneRank recognizes a server for real community effort: steady legitimate voting, a quality listing, meaningful updates and improvement. Every approved listing takes part automatically, with no registration and nothing to buy. The ten best scores become finalists, and a weighted drawing picks the winner so smaller communities have a real chance too.

Competition schedule

The first competition runs through November 2026 (UTC). Provisional standings will appear here once it starts.

How scoring works (100 points)

Listing quality — 20

  • Valid name and website: 4
  • Useful original description: 6 (3 for a short one; copied, repetitive or keyword-stuffed text scores 0)
  • Logo 2 + banner 2
  • Categories 2 + revision 1
  • Valid Discord link: 3

Community engagement — 20

Unique legitimate voters this month: 1 → 4, 3 → 8, 5 → 12, 10 → 16, 15+ → 20. Fifteen voters earn the same as five hundred.

Growth & improvement — 20

Four 5-point parts: unique voter growth, accepted vote growth, consistency improvement, and maintaining activity. Growth compares against the server's own previous month with +5 smoothing on both sides and needs at least 5 unique voters. Servers without a full previous month use fixed milestones instead of being treated as zero, and steady established servers keep their maintenance points.

Meaningful server updates — 15

5 points each for up to three published updates. An update counts only if it has a title and at least 25 words, isn't a near-copy of an earlier update, and was posted on a different day.

Consistency — 25

The month is split into five back-to-back periods, using its real number of days (31 days → 7, 6, 6, 6, 6). Each period with at least one accepted vote earns 5 points.

Premium, advertising, donations, spotlight credits, port monitoring and server level never add points. All times are UTC.

Eligibility

  • Approved, public listing, listed for at least 7 days by the end of the month
  • At least 3 unique legitimate voters and accepted votes on at least 2 separate days
  • A valid website
  • No confirmed serious abuse or vote manipulation
  • Has not won in the previous 3 competitions

Finalists and the drawing

The top 10 eligible servers become finalists. Ties are broken by engagement score, then consistency score, then server ID. After an admin reviews the finalists, one official drawing picks the winner on our server using secure randomness. Each finalist's weight is 50 + its score, so its chance of winning is its weight divided by the total weight of all finalists. The highest score improves a server's chances but doesn't guarantee a win, and results are never redrawn.
