Integration guides / Server status
Server status setup
Completely optional. If you skip this, your listing simply shows no status at all — it will never be shown as offline.
What visitors see
- Nothing set up — no status shown at all.
- Check succeeded recently — a green ONLINE badge.
- Check failed or is stale — the badge disappears. We never print "Offline", "Unknown" or an empty placeholder, because a failed check on our side is not proof that your server is down.
Setting it up (2 minutes)
- Open My Servers and press Server status on your listing.
- Enter your hostname or IP — for example
play.yourserver.com. - Enter your game port (commonly
43594). A separate query/status port is optional and is tried first when present. - Press Save, then Check now to test it immediately.
Privacy
Your hostname, IP and ports are stored privately on RuneRank's servers. They are never displayed on your listing, never appear in the page source, never reach the browser, and are not included in any public API or listing data. They are used only to open a short connection test from our servers.
How the check works
- We open a TCP connection to your query port, then your game port.
- Each attempt times out after 6 seconds.
- Checks run automatically roughly every 3 hours, plus whenever you press Check now.
- If no address is set, we fall back to your website address where one is available.
- Private, local and internal addresses (localhost, 127.x, 10.x, 192.168.x, 172.16–31.x, 169.254.x, .local, .internal) are rejected.
Don't want to share an address?
Use the RuneRank Player Reporter instead. Your server sends its player count out to us, so you never have to give us an address — and a fresh player report also proves your server is online, which shows the same verified badge.
